5 - A trustworthy Stranger

When he opened his eyes again Julian noticed two things which were different from the night when he entered this warehouse. First the sun had risen and it's light spilled in through windows directly below the roof. The other thing was that he no longer was alone. A man was sitting in the hall, guarding the entrance. He was sitting in front of him, Julian could only see his back and the long light brown hair, hanging over the man's shoulders. He wore something that seemed to be a plate armor only a helm was missing. A long sword was tied to his back. the man hadn't noticed, that Julian had woken up and Julian was tempted to leave it this way. He was staring at the stranger. What was he doing here? Julian stood up silently, hoping to be able to sneak away unseen. His trainers barely making a sound on the dusty ground he moved towards a door leading out of the warehouse, or so he hoped. Reaching out for the handle Julian turned around to look after the man. He hadn't moved. He pulled the door open and then stopped dead. He found himself facing a red brick wall. There was no way out, he wasn't going anywhere. The man laughed briefly.
"Did you really think I would let you go so easily?"
The man's voice was dark, but somehow comforting.
"What did you do?", Julian demanded.
He was not afraid, but if the events of the past days had taught him something it was to mistrust anyone.  The man turned to watch the young man and smiled.
"Come over here. I will answer your questions, but in the meantime I would like to have some tea."
Only then Julian noticed the fire the man had lit in front of himself. A pot with water was already set in place and tiny bubbles rose in the water. The strange man turned again and stared into the flames. Julian sighted and accepted the truth. There was no way to get past this metal plated warrior. He just needed someone to trust and in this situation he might as well try out this stranger. Slowly he stepped nearer and set down next to the fire, facing the man. Now that Julian could clearly see the man's face, lit by the light of the flames, he noticed, that he couldn't be older than 25. But even so the man stared into the fire with the expression of great sadness. No one moved, no one spoke. They both seemed to be captured by their own thoughts. Finally the young warrior looked up and inhaled deeply.
"Ok... I can understand that you are confused, but you need to trust me. I have no proof, so you may not believe me, but I was a friend of your father. I want to help you. What Pharmazics had done to your father was nothing, but a terrible crime. Your father, me and others of his kind had tried everything to stop them, to destroy this company."
Pharmazics. This was the name of the company Julians father had worked for, the name of a company that had destroyed his life. he always desired to make them pay, but his father had always convinced him that it would be too dangerous. Why had he lied to me? Only to protect me?
"We had tried many things", the man continued, "We always needed to act in the shadows, as your father didn't want you to be in danger, but even so they found you. With terrible consequences for you and your father. I can't explain to you what or who we are, but what I can tell you is, that we are your friends. By the way, my name is Jonas."
He smiled shyly. If it would have been under other circumstances Julian might have liked him, but now he didn't know what to do, what to think. He opened the mouth to ask a question, but Jonas raised his hand to stop him from talking. the warrior seemed to listen to something, something that Julian couldn't make out. But then he heard it, too. Sirens. The police was near. Normally a person in Julian's situation would have been happy to hear this sound, but the boy knew that the police was nothing, but paid by Pharmazics. And that meant trouble. Hastily Jonas grabbed the pot with the boiling water and extinguished the fire with it, the gauntlets of his armor protecting him from the heat. The warrior jumped to his feed and extended a hand to help Julian up.
"Do you trust me now?", he asked.
   "Do I have a choice?"
Jonas only smiled and somehow that made Julian like him even more. Despite his answer he trusted Jonas as if he would be his brother. Julian felt he could tell him anything and the warrior would understand. A stranger.
Julian grabbed his hand and a smile crossed Jonas' face. Together we ran towards the door I tried to open earlier. Only when Jonas reached out for the handle Julian remembered what he had found behind it.
"Hey", he shouted, the sirens were coming nearer, "don't you remember there is a wall..."
Julian stopped mid-sentence when the warrior pulled the door open and the bright blue sky greeted them. Jonas turned around and smiled.
"There is much you can learn from us."
Together we ran along the street and turned around a corner, fleeing from the police.
Ok... Here is the next chapter...
This one resulted shorter than the other ones... Don't ask me why...

I've submitted this one without showing it to my editor, but I will give it to him this tuesday so there might be some (a lot of) spelling mistakes... But I hope it's good anyways...
